Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Carter Verhaeghe fired a pair of first period power play goals as the Florida Panthers coasted to a () win over the falling Winnipeg Jets Tuesday night.

The Jets are now winless in their last six games.

Brady Tkachuk had a goal and two assists for Florida.

Nikko Mikkola had a goal and an assist.

Sam Reinhart had the other Panther goal.

Matthew Tkachuk had four assists on the night.

Seth Jones had two assists.

Akira Schmid turned aside 24 shots for Florida, who moved to 7-4-2.

Adam Lowry scored the lone goal for the Jets.

Clay Stevenson took the loss for Winnipeg (4-5-3), stopping 19 shots. Carter Verhaeghe fired Florida's first goal, a power play marker 7:27 into the first, picking the top corner via wrister on a setup from Brady Tkachuk.

Nikko Mikkola made it 2-0 1:25 later when he hit Jet defenceman Mario Ferraro's stick and the disc beat Stevenson high glove side.

The goal was his 2nd of the season.

Verhaeghe struck again at 10:18 with another power play tally, this time one-timing a Matthew Tkachuk feed which changed direction when it hit Jet defenceman Neal Pionk in front of the net.

The goal was his 8th of the season.

The Jets had limited scoring chances, their first not coming until Kyle Connor's partial breakaway just under two minutes into the second period.

Adam Lowry's shorthanded tally 12:27 into the second where he scored on a wraparound and play was allowed to continue until off-ice officials blew the horn on the clock and referees verified it via video review, was the only offence the Jets could muster.

The lead was short lived, as Sam Reinhart restored Florida's three goal cushion 47 seconds later, snapping a neat relayed feed from Brady Tkachuk to make it 4-1.

The goal was his 6th of the season.

Brady Tkachuk converted a saucer pass from his brother Matthew at 12:10, using one hand on his stick to beat Stevenson high glove side to make it 5-1 Panthers.

The goal was his 8th of the season.
