Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-J.J. Peterka's goal 3:21 into overtime clinched a 4-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets to spoil their home opener on Friday night.

Jeremy Swayman turned aside 31 shots for Boston, who won their second game in a row to start the season.

Adam Lowry had a pair of assists.

Stuart Skinner made 26 saves for Winnipeg, who lost his first game as a Jet after being signed to a two-year $7.5 Million deal over the summer after spending last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He moved further into the spotlight after starter Connor Hellebuyck demanded a trade from Winnipeg and was suspended by the club for not reporting to training camp in September.

Winnipeg carried the play for almost half of the first period, jumping on their opponents before Boston began to push back.

Dylan DeMelo opened the scoring just under five minutes into the opening stanza when he cranked a high slapshot through traffic to beat Swayman and gave the Jets a 1-0 lead at 4:52.

The goal was his 1st of the season.

Boston got on the board at 9:23 when Hampus Lindholm beat Stuart Skinner long range, cranking a slap shot from just inside the blue line past the Jet goaltender, beating him glove side to make it 1-1.

Kyle Connor tied it 1:50 into the second period on the power play when he snapped up a loose puck just outside the crease and fired it past Swayman to make it 2-2.

The goal was his first of the season.

Mario Ferraro gave Winnipeg the lead with 12 seconds remaining in the second when he converted an Adam Lowry feed, beating Swayman from the top of the right face off circle with a high wrister to make it 3-2.

The goal was his first as a Jet.

Elias Lindholm tied it at 18:22 of the third, redirecting a David Pastrnak shot past Skinner from close in to make it 3-3.

The game went to overtime.
