Jets shoot down Bruins 8-1 Featured

Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Mark Scheifele scored twice and added an assist and Kyle Connor scored and added two assists as the Winnipeg Jets cruised past the visiting Boston Bruins by a 8-1 score Tuesday night.

The Jets rebounded from a 4-1 loss to Columbus on Sunday night.

Winnipeg has won three of their last six games.

Gabriel Vilardi and Nikita Chibrikov each had a goal and an assist.

Neal Pionk had a pair of assists.

Vladislav Namestnikov and Gabriel Vilardi also scored for the Jets.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg, who moved to 21-9-0.

David Pastrnak scored for Boston.

Jeremy Swayman turned aside 27 shots for Boston, who dropped to 15-12-3.

Winnipeg scored first on the power play 12:09 into the opening stanza. With Brandon Carlo off for high sticking Vladislav Namestnikov poked the puck past Swayman after Nino Niederreiter's shot hit the goal post.

The goal was his 7th of the season.

Mark Scheifele made it 2-0 with just under two minutes left in the first.

Gabriel Vilardi's second effort in the high slot saw him slide the puck to Connor along the goal line. The Jet winger paused before hitting Scheifele with a saucer pass in the slot which he shot just over Swayman's shoulder.

The goal was his 15th of the season.

Scheifele scored again just under seven minutes into the second when he one timed a cross ice feed from Josh Morrissey at 7:02.

David Pastrnak got Boston on the board with a power play marker 9:13 into the second when he one timed a Charlie McAvoy feed past Hellebuyck from the left face off dot, beating the Jet netminder high glove side to score his 10th of the season.

Kyle Connor scored 1:15 into the third to give the Jets a 4-1 lead when Mark Scheifele found him alone cruising in the slot.

Connor snapped the disc past Swayman, beating him high blocker side.

The goal was his 16th of the season.

Gabriel Vilardi scored 5:33 into the third after Connor hit him just inside the Bruins blue line before he cut to the center and beat Swayman with a wrister just inside the left post.

The goal was his 12th of the season.

Alex Iafalo made it 6-1 on the power play at 7:19 after he redirected a Neal Pionk shot from the point.

Mason Appleton scored at 16:16 off a shot from the corner which went in off of Swayman's skate.

Nikita Chibrikov scored ten seconds later off a turnover as Cole Perfetti fed him a pass which he one timed past Swayman, beating him high glove side to score his first of the season.

Winnipeg hosts Vegas on Thursday while Boston visits Seattle.
