Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Kyle Connor fired three first period goals for a natural hat trick as the Winnipeg Jets cruised to a 6-1 win over the visiting Vancouver Canucks Tuesday night.

It was Connor's sixth career hat trick.

“You’re the recipient of a nice pass on the first one from Gabe. And then the next, just kind of being in the right spot, where the bounces just seem to be goin the right way. Especially early. We’ve had those nights, like the other night, where we’re hitting posts and they’re not going in. So just one of those nights where I was able to bury a couple," said Connor.

The Jet winger had a four-point night overall, assisting on a third period power play goal.

Neal Pionk, Nino Niederreiter and Mark Scheifele also scored for Winnipeg.

Gabriel Vilardi had three assists for the Jets and Cole Perfetti had a pair of assists.

Connor Hellebuyck made 23 saves for Winnipeg, who moved to 30-12-3.

Nils Hoglander scored for the Canucks.

Kevin Lankinen turned side 27 shots for Vancouver, who dropped to 19-14-10.

The Canucks have lost five of their last six games and finished their five-game road trip with four out of a possible ten points.

Winnipeg has won three of their last four games, their only blemish an overtime loss to the Los Angeles Kings.

Connor's first came just under seven minutes into the opening stanza when Gabriel Vilardi who intercepted Lankinen's clearing attempt from behind the net in the corner before feeding Connor who was cruising through the slot.

Connor fired the disc into an open net to make it 1-0 Jets.

Connor scored again at 13:01 when he netted a rebound off a Gabriel Vilardi shot using a backhand deke before sliding the puck past Lankinen.

Connor's third tally came on a breakaway 36 seconds later when Gabriel Vilardi sent him in alone as he beat Lankinen with a forehand deke.

The goal was his 26th of the season.

Neal Pionk scored 39 seconds into the second, blasting a Cole Perfetti feed past Lankinen, beating him high blocker side to give Winnipeg a 4-0 lead.

The goal was his 6th of the season.

Nino Niederreiter made it 5-0 at 15:56 when he banked the puck off of Lankinen as he was passing the net.

The goal was his 12th of the season.

With Tyler Myers off for hooking, Mark Scheifele converted a Nikolaj Ehlers feed from the side of the net to make it 6-0 Jets 1:31 into the third.

The goal was his 26th of the season.

Nils Hoglander got Vancouver on the board 9:16 into the third when he stole the puck from Jet defenceman Logan Stanley before breaking in and beating Hellebuyck blocker side with a wrister to score his 3rd of the season.

"They're (Jets) too good of a team to give them a lead like that," said Vancouver winger Connor Garland afterward.

"It's a tough way to go." Canucks Head Coach Rick Tocchet was succinct in his assessment following the game.

"Three major blunders right? I didn't actually mind the first. But the three mistakes in the net. That's a good hockey club over there (Jets) and then obviously everybody on our team had a tough night," he said.

Both clubs see action again on Thursday as Winnipeg hosts Seattle and Vancouver returns home to face Los Angeles.
