Jets storm Lightning 4-1 to win second straight Featured

Winnipeg, Manitoba (NHN)-Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele each had a goal and an assist to pace the Winnipeg Jets to a 4-1 win over the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night.

The win was their second straight after downing the Chicago Blackhawks 3-2 in overtime Tuesday night.

Morgan Barron and Gustav Nyquist had the other Jet goals.

Tanner Pearson and Alex Iafallo each had a pair of assists.

Connor Hellebuyck made 26 saves for Winnipeg, Brayden Point scored for the Lightning.

Andrei Vasilevskiy turned aside 26 shots for Tampa Bay, There was no scoring in the first period.

Morgan Barron put the Jets on the board first, 15:31 into the second when he snapped a rebound off a Cole Koepke shot on the rush past Vasilevskiy to make it 1-0.

The goal was his 9th of the season.

Mark Scheifele made it 2-0 at 19:42 when he one timed an Alex Iafallo feed past Vasilevskiy, beating him short side from inside the left face off circle.

The goal was his 29th of the season.

Brayden Point pulled the Lightning to within a goal 1:52 into the third after he converted a slick Jake Guentzel feed past Hellebuyck, beating him 7 seconds into a power play with a wrister from the slot.

The goal was his 15th of the season.

Gustav Nyquist restored the two-goal cushion at 5:34 when Jonathan Toews hit him with a crisp pass before Nyquist moved in and beat Vasilevskiy with a wrister to score his first of the season and first as a Winnipeg Jet.

Kyle Connor appeared to have made it 4-1 8:43 into the third after skating from his own blue line before beating Vasilevskiy but the play was successfully challenged by Tampa Bay for being offside.

Connor scored an empty netter at 17:59 to seal the win for Winnipeg.

Both teams see action on Saturday as Winnipeg hosts Vancouver Saturday while Tampa Bay visits Toronto.
